A goal in the 75th minute by Courtney Baker-Richardson proved to be the slim difference between these two sides in an enjoyable, well-contested encounter at The Creek on Friday night.
The match will have served both teams well as a pre-season workout and Bristol Manor Farm can count themselves unlucky against a slick and professional young Swansea side.
New signing Owen Howe saw a shot rattle off the outside of the post following good work marauding into the penalty area midway through the first half and the young Swansea keeper Josh Gould pulled off an absolutely world-class save, diving at full stretch to acrobatically tip over a firm header by Manor Farm’s tireless striker Troy Simpson midway through the second.
Amidst a slew of late substitutions both sides would have settled for a share of the spoils but Baker-Richardson was on hand for the visitors 15 minutes from the end of the game, stabbing in a flicked shot from eight yards out which Ashley Clarke could do nothing about.
All in all a thoroughly entertaining and valuable exercise – enjoyed by an excellent pre-season attendance of 149.
