Jamie Turner has been made vice-captain for the 2018/19 season, following on from Steve Kingdon being made captain a few days ago.
JT is a Manor Farm man through-and-through, joining us back in 2011/12 and playing in the youth and reserve team before being promoted to John Blacks first team squad in 2012/13, where he stayed ’til he left Lee Lashenkos first team to join Brislington half-way through the 2014/15 season. Jamie returned to the Creek and helped us win the Western League in 2016/17 and, of course, had an incredible year in our first ever Southern League season last year where he ended up winning the highly coveted Players Player of the Year award.
Speaking on his appointment Jamie said:
“I was extremely happy when Laz asked me to be part of his plans for the forthcoming season. I was excited when he offered the chance to be the vice-captain under Steve Kingdon, and am very much looking forward to the challenge.”
I then asked him about the goals for next season, where Jamie answered exactly what the Farmy Army would want to hear:
“The goal of course would be winning the league. We want to take the club as high as they can go, and with the calibre of players we have at the club along with the new additions we’re more than capable of achieving this.”
Congratulations to Jamie Turner on your appointment!
