AFC Totton 1 Bristol Manor Farm 0 (Sat 25 th Jan )
Manor Farm can count themselves truly unlucky not to have come away with
anything after a fine, battling performance at the Snows Stadium.
The visitor’s dominated play in the first half with Alan Griffin and Cory
Simpson (newly re-signed from Larkhall Athletic) providing a real handful for
the Totton back four. For all of their incisive play up front however, The Farm
couldn’t find a finish to the many chances they created and were made to pay
when against the run of play Totton went in front just five minutes before half-
time. Ollie Bradley was the man over in a quick right-to-left break for the Stags,
giving him time to sweep a firm shot over Ben John from just outside the box.
Bouyed by their lead, Totton definitely improved in the second half but the
better chances still fell to the visitors. In a blitzkrieg finish to the game Manor
Farm piled on the pressure in search of an equaliser and when Griffin got onto
to the end of a dangerous free-kick to poke the ball home with two minutes left
the visiting Farmy Army went wild with delight and relief. Their joy was short-
lived however as the linesman raised a flag for what must have been the most
marginal of offside calls as a dozen or more players from either team,
converged as one on the ball.
