Bristol Manor Farm 1 Moneyfields 0
Manor Farm took the spoils in an exciting yet ill-tempered affair at home to
Moneyfields, which saw the visitors reduced to 10 men after going behind to
the only goal of the game.
Moneyfields started the brighter and striker Stephen Hutchings had two chances
within 5 minutes but was twice denied by home keeper Ben John. The
highlights of a sub-par first half came in minutes 40 and 41 and involved
chances at either end – Farm's Jordan Metters was denied by defender Jamie
Ford on the goal-line before the visitors broke and Ryan Pennary was denied by
John.
Farm started the second half positively and the best early chance fell to Jamie
Bird who could only shape his shot wide from 12 yards. The deadlock resisted
until 15 minutes from time when substitutes Leigh-Gilchrist and Bamford
combined with the latter skipping by two defenders and forced an excellent but
meaningless save, as Leigh-Gilchrist buried the rebound. Tempers had
threatened to fray at several moments before Moneyfield's forward Hutchings
was given his marching orders for persistent off the ball incidents with Bamford
with 10 minutes left.
One was proven to be enough as Farm collected successive wins in their returns
to league action this week before they travel to Highworth Town at the
weekend.
