Cinderford Town 5 Bristol Manor Farm 1

Cinderford Town 5 Bristol Manor Farm 1 (Tue 21 st Jan)
As reported in more detail on our website (www.bristolmanorfarm.com) a
somewhat calamitous evening for The Portwaymen – in which we competed
well during the first half – was only made truly memorable by the game’s
opening goal – a strong contender for ‘goal of the season’ – scored by Mason
Winter with the match barely five minutes old.
Picking up a loose ball in the left-back position, Winter drove forward over the
halfway line, moving inside at pace to play a neat one-two with Ashley Kington
before advancing on goalkeeper Andy Hannah. Getting his shot off early,
Winter deceived the oncoming ‘keeper with a sweet-as-you-like strike from all
of 30 yards – partly a powerful half-volley and partly an ‘exquisite chip’ – that
swept over Hannah’s head and into the back of the net. Would that the evening
had continued in a similar vein.
Despite playing some good football, the visitors fell 2-1 behind and most
crucially allowed an easy back-stick header by Josh Hunt on the very stroke of
half-time to put The Foresters 3-1 in front at the break. When Hunt completed
his hat-trick eight minutes into the second half the game was all but up.
Substitute James Harding completed the scoring when he converted an 83 rd
minute penalty to compound a miserable night for the Farm.
