LASHENKO LOOKS AHEAD

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The football ‘off-season’ is a time filled with conflicting emotions as clubs reflect on their previous campaign, but also begin to look ahead to their next chapter. For Bristol Manor Farm Manager Lee Lashenko, this of course is no different as as the club prepares for its sixth season at Step 4 of the English pyramid. With three players departing the club this week, the Gaffer talks about their impact at the club and opportunities for new faces to make their mark next season.

“Of course there is a tinge of sadness at this time of year because some players will be leaving you for pastures new,” Lashenko began.

“In yesterday’s case, we said goodbye to not just three great footballers, but three fantastic people.

“They’re an infectious bunch, and for most of us, we have become great friends with them all away from football which will last for many years to come,” Lashenko expressed.

Since Lashenko was appointed as Manager of the Portwaymen in the 2013/14 season, continuing the club’s commitment to attract high-profile signings remains firmly at his core, and the signings of Ben John, Owen Howe and Jake Gosling certainly encapsulated that.

“Long before I joined this club, there have been many great players and managers associated with Bristol Manor Farm,” Lashenko said.

“Shaun Bond, Chris Rex, and Mike Fisher to name a few all helped build the foundations of this club, and during my 10-11 year tenure, we’ve worked extremely hard to add to the repertoire.

“Our gates continue to grow in numbers, and I’ve no doubt that the players leaving us have helped attract new supporters to our brilliant fan base.

With the club’s first new signing due to be announced imminently, Lashenko certainly isn’t wasting any time bringing ‘the right characters’ to Manor Farm.

“When you join this club, you have to be the right fit for us. We spend a lot of time curating the squad and making sure that everyone buys into what we’re trying to achieve,” Lashenko proclaimed.

“The first player that will be joining us is someone who I’ve known for many seasons, and will play a massive part in next year. We’ve introduced a number of younger players to the first team, and this lad will only help them continue their forward progression.

“I can’t wait to begin working with him again,” said Lashenko.
