Player Code of Conduct

This document has been produced to meet our FA Charter Standard Club responsibilities and, as importantly, to promote a professional and consistent club culture where we can all achieve success.

General

  1. Listen, understand, and respond to what your coach/team manager/sports therapist advises.
  2. Recognise that the coach must act in the best interests of the team, not just one individual player.
  3. Speak to someone you trust or the club welfare officer if you are unhappy about anything at BMFFC.
  4. Adhere to the Laws and spirit of The Game.
  5. Promote Fair Play at all times.
  6. Respect and abide by match officials’ decisions.
  7. Never engage in public criticism of match officials.
  8. Never use offensive, insulting, or abusive language or behaviour.
  9. Be mindful of the impact of bad language on other participants, facility users, or neighbours.
  10. Speak respectfully to your teammates, the opposition, your coach/manager, and officials, even if you disagree with them.
  11. Show sportsmanship in both victory and defeat – shake hands with opponents and officials before or after the game.
  12. Understand that everyone makes mistakes.
  13. Bullying, fighting, or intimidation will not be tolerated. Offenders may face disciplinary action.
  14. The consumption of alcohol (if under 18) or drugs is strictly prohibited and will result in disciplinary action if breached.
  15. Smoking is not permitted while at BMFFC (or an away fixture) or when wearing BMFFC matchday/training kit.

Training & Matchdays

  1. Attendance at training is expected. If unavailable, inform your coach/manager with a full explanation at least 5 days (training) or 2 weeks (fixtures) in advance. If unforeseen circumstances arise, notify your coach/manager as soon as possible to support planning and preparation.
  2. Arrive on time. If delayed, inform your coach/manager immediately with a valid reason.
  3. Wear club tracksuits and other designated matchday attire when traveling to games.
  4. Wear suitable club training kit during training sessions.
  5. Ensure all playing equipment is clean and ready for matches and training.
  6. When available, travel to away games on the team bus unless alternative arrangements are agreed upon with the coach/manager.
  7. Treat dressing rooms and training areas with respect and professionalism – avoid damage, dispose of litter responsibly, and maintain cleanliness.
  8. If a ball goes out of bounds, take responsibility for retrieving it. Lost balls that are not recovered may be charged to the responsible player.
  9. Attendance at post-match meals/events is mandatory unless prior approval for absence is given by management and teammates.
  10. Matchday and training kit must be returned if you leave the club permanently.

Treatment of Injury

  1. Report any injuries via SportEasy as soon as possible and seek advice from the Sports Therapist.
  2. Attend all injury treatment appointments with the Sports Therapist. If unable to attend due to unforeseen circumstances, inform the Sports Therapist at least 2 hours before the scheduled time.
