MATCH REPORT: Bristol Manor Farm 3-0 Willand Rovers

Dazzling Danny Dodimead’s double does the damage as Farm make it back-to-back wins over Christmas, writes Jack Davies.

The first half may have lacked the goals of the second but that wasn’t for the want of trying. 15 seconds in before the first chance, as Nielsen headed just wide from a Mason Winter cross. The closest Willand came all game was from an early long-range effort. Moyse taking aim and his swinging effort bounced off the far corner of the crossbar. Farm would also hit the woodwork in the first half as their fullbacks combined. Winter again with a superb cross for Aron Robbins, who headed onto the bar from close range. Winter himself had a go next, as his lively first half continued. A neat move between Jamie Adams and Jayden Nielsen led to the latter finding Winter, who’s driven effort was tipped over the bar.

The second half began with Farm on the front foot, but they were denied reward until Lee Lashenko made his match winning substitution. Owen Brian was thrown on just before the hour and within minutes he’d created the opener. The striker picked the ball up deep before driving at the away defence, his cute sliding pass was perfect for Dan Dodimead, who composed himself in the area, before driving a low finish into the far corner. Willand created little from open play but did look a threat from set plays. A Charlie Wright delivery was headed on the outside the post by Laird. If Dodimead’s opener was good, his second was sensational. A swift counter saw Rhys Thomas send an early cross to Dods, who’s immaculate control preceded a silky Cruyff turn before he topped the lot with a fine low finish. Owen Brain played a part in both goals, and he topped off his superb cameo with a goal of his own. Dodimead inevitably involved as he pinched the ball high before rolling to Brain, who slalomed inside several defenders before unleashing an unstoppable effort into the far top corner.

After the match, manager Lee Lashenko and his players dedicated their performance and result to Maria Lloyd who was sadly taken into hospital over Christmas. We send our best wishes and love to her, Lloyd and the rest of the family.
