MATCH REPORT: Yate Town 1-1 Bristol Manor Farm

A late offside flag denies Farm a third win in a row as they draw with Yate for the second time this season, writes Jack Davies.

Farm came in with back-to-back wins either side of Christmas and started brightly. Owen Brain had a shot well blocked before his cross was inches away from strike partner Dan Dodimead at the back post. Both sides came close from direct free kicks as the conditions made it difficult in the early going. Brain smashed Farm’s effort narrowly over before Oli Jenkins own strike went wide.

A quiet second half sprang to life in the final 15 minutes. Farm had applied most of the pressure, including successive good chances being saved and blocked before the home side stole the lead on the counter. Under a minute after clearing a corner, Jack Ball fed the ball wide and his lung busting run into the area was rewarded by an excellent cross, to which he attacked and put his side ahead. Home celebrations had barely died down before Farm found themselves level. An almighty scramble bounced across several players before Farm’s in form striker Dodimead, smashed the loose ball home. Farm pushed on as they sought a perfect start to the year and thought they’d won it in the final moments. Jayden Nielsen did superbly to steal the ball and find Brain, whose low crossed was tipped in by Dodimead before a late and rather surprising offside flag halted celebration.
