Bristol Manor Farm v Didcot Town – Saturday 23rd August, 3.00pm

Exmouth Town v Bristol Manor Farm – Monday 25th August, 3.00pm

Club Reporter Jack Davies looks ahead to this weekend’s double header as we host Didcot Town & travel to Exmouth Town:

t’s set to be a busy Bank Holiday weekend for Bristol Manor Farm as Will Justin’s side prepare for a testing double header – first welcoming Didcot Town to The Creek on Saturday, before hitting the road for a long trip down to Exmouth Town on Monday afternoon.

The Farm have shown plenty of promise in the early weeks of the season. Despite suffering a narrow and frustrating defeat away at Hartpury University in their last outing, there were plenty of positives to take. Brandon Bak was on target once again, calmly notching his third strike of what is already shaping into a productive campaign for the forward. With a rare weekend off giving players a chance to recharge, Justin’s men will be fresh, focused, and hungry to put points on the board.

Saturday’s visitors Didcot Town have endured a strange start to the season – one of contrasts. They’ve looked ruthless in the FA Cup, hitting eight goals across their two ties to sail through in style. Yet their league form has been quite the opposite, opening with a 6-0 defeat before shipping seven goals in a thrilling but damaging 7-3 reverse against Bishop’s Cleeve. One bright spark has been striker Cam Mills, who grabbed a late brace in that defeat and will no doubt be Didcot’s danger man again at the weekend.

On Monday, attention quickly turns to Exmouth Town, where the Farm will travel looking to spoil the Bank Holiday party on the Devon coast. Like Didcot, Exmouth are still searching for their first league victory, although they’ve faced a challenging opening month with tough defeats to Swindon Supermarine and Portishead. Encouragingly for them, last week brought a morale-boosting win in the FA Cup as they came from behind to edge out Buckland 2-1. Experienced forward Matt Wright was the hero of the day, scoring one and setting up the other to remind everyone of his quality.

With points and momentum up for grabs across two fixtures in just three days, this weekend represents an important early marker in the campaign. The Farmy Army will be out in force to back the lads both at The Creek and on the road, and the squad will be determined to turn promise into points as the season begins to gather pace.
