While Bristol Manor Farm FC will take all reasonable steps to ensure the health and safety of its employees, it is important to remember that health and safety is also the responsibility of the employees themselves. It is the duty of each employee to take reasonable care of their own health, safety, and welfare, and to ensure that their actions do not put others at risk. Any employee who encounters a situation that may pose a serious or imminent threat to themselves or others must report it immediately to their line manager, safety officer, or health and safety representative. If employees are unsure how to perform a specific task or feel that performing a certain job may be dangerous, they must report this situation promptly. Employees may also invoke Bristol Manor Farm FC’s formal grievance procedure or make a complaint under the club’s provisions on disclosures in the public interest.

Disciplinary action may be taken against any employee who violates health and safety rules and procedures or who fails to fulfill their duties under health and safety legislation. Depending on the severity of the breach, this may amount to gross misconduct, potentially resulting in summary dismissal.

  1. Maintaining the workplace in a safe condition and providing adequate facilities and arrangements for employee welfare.

Organisation

The Board of Directors at Bristol Manor Farm FC has overall responsibility for health and safety. The designated safety officer, [Insert Name], will be responsible for overseeing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety procedures at the club. The safety officer will also report back to the Board of Directors on all health and safety matters, conduct regular inspections of the workplace, maintain safety records, and investigate accidents that occur.

Training

Safety training is a vital part of our health and safety programme. It is essential that every employee is adequately trained to perform their job safely. All employees will receive training on safe working practices and procedures, which will include instruction on the safe use of any equipment provided.

Employees at Special Risk

Bristol Manor Farm FC recognizes that certain employees may be at an increased risk of injury or ill-health due to specific work activities. Employees are required to inform their line manager if any changes in their personal circumstances make them more vulnerable to risks, such as medical conditions, pregnancy, or taking certain medications.

First Aid and Reporting Accidents at Work

First aid kits are provided at key locations across the workplace. Employees will be shown the location of the nearest first aid kit and will be informed of the designated first aiders. This information is displayed on the work noticeboards.

All injuries, no matter how minor, must be reported to a line manager or safety officer and recorded in the accident book. Accurate records of accidents are crucial for monitoring and improving health and safety procedures. The safety officer will regularly inspect the accident book, investigate any incidents, and take necessary steps to prevent future occurrences.

Fire Safety

Fire safety is a significant priority within the workplace. Employees have a duty to act in ways that minimize the risk of fire and are responsible for reporting any fire hazards, such as faulty electrical cables. Employees must never attempt to repair electrical equipment themselves.

The safety officer will ensure the maintenance and testing of fire alarms and firefighting equipment. Fire extinguishers are positioned throughout the workplace, and employees must only attempt to extinguish a fire if it is safe to do so. In case of danger, employees should activate the fire alarm and evacuate the building immediately.

Fire doors are installed to help prevent the spread of fire and smoke and should never be blocked. Fire exits must remain clear and accessible at all times. Employees must familiarize themselves with their evacuation routes and assembly points. Regular fire drills will be conducted to ensure preparedness.

Emergency lighting is installed in exit corridors and above emergency exit doors to guide employees in case of a power failure. Lifts should not be used during an emergency evacuation.
