LASHENKO AHEAD OF SHIREHAMPTON FC FRIENDLY

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Bristol Manor Farm Football Club return to action on Wednesday evening when they face Shirehampton FC in the club’s first pre-season friendly. First-team Manager Lee Lashenko feels that this is the ideal preparation that the team needs ahead of the Steve Hillier Memorial Cup.

“We’re seeing this as a great opportunity to finally host at match at our ground,” Lashenko began.

“Shirehampton are a competitive side, and this will also be an opportunity to trial a few things ahead of the Steve Hillier Memorial Cup on Saturday afternoon.

It has been a long time since the Farm have locked horns with another side in a competitive match, and Lashenko has been impressed with how the players have looked after themselves during the absence from football.

“Across the board, I’ve been impressed with the level of desire and fitness shown by my players,” said Lashenko.

“I don’t want to single out players but Marcus Day has come back flying. We’ve always known about his ability – but he’s returned with that fire and desire in his belly that you would expect from a long-term lay off.

“I need my players to keep showing 100% commitment over this period. We’re trying to be ambitious with our recruitment, and if some of the squad aren’t at the level required – then I can’t guarantee their future at Bristol Manor Farm Football Club.

Lashenko also added that this will be an opportunity to make use of the club’s U18 side, with the possibility that some of the youth players will be selected for the match-day squad.

“I think that it’s unlikely that we will use Owen Howe and some of the new players, but rather make use of the clubs youth setup and have some of the U18 players feature in the match,” Lashenko said.

“I know that some of these younger players will be pushing to try and make a place for themselves in the first-team.

“There’s going to be a bit of loyalty in the next couple of matches – based on what I’ve seen from my players in the last couple of weeks.”
