MATCH REPORT: Bristol Manor Farm 0-3 Frome Town

Frome maintained their near perfect start to the season as they piled more home blues on Manor Farm.

The visitors were unbeaten so far this season but conceded the games first chance, Owen Howe combining well with Kyle Tooze before the latter dragged just wide.

Frome did take the lead after weathering that early storm, and it was an ex-Farm player back to haunt. Rex Mannings was played through after just two passes sliced open a static Farm defence and the striker tucked the rebound away after his initial shot was well saved.

Farm almost levelled instantly. Winter’s clever low corner fell to Howe but the striked uncharacteristically sliced wide.

The home side were also denied what looked two very good penalty shouts before the break. First Ben Bament was hauled from behind, then Kyle Tooze was shoved over at the near post following a corner.

Frome striker Kane Simpson then had a moment to forget late in the half. He found himself through on goal but his cheeky chipped effort went terribly wrong as the ball looped both high and wide.

Farm had the majority of possession in the second half as they tried to get level. Owen Howe had the first chance to restore parity but could only see his effort deflect just wide.

Frome always carried a threat on the counter, and went inches from doubling the lead after an hour played. Jonathan Davies allowed ample time and space to run inside, but his low effort smashed off the inside of the post and away from danger.

The visitors would double their lead and end the contest shortly after. Davies turned provider as his searching cross was headed into his own net but the unfortunate Mason Winter.

Frome would add gloss to the scoreline late on. Ben John sliced a bouncing ball, and Frome substitute James Ollis had the simple task of rolling the ball into the empty net.

Attention quickly turns to the quarter final of the GFA cup when Mangotsfield United travel to The Creek on Tuesday night (9/11/21). Head over to our YouTube channel – Official BMF TV – for Manager Lashenko’s reaction from today’s defeat.

MATCH REPORT: Highworth Town 1-2 Bristol Manor Farm

Manor Farm picked up a vital away win at the hands of high flying Highworth Town, writes Jack Davies

Manor Farm were on the front foot for all of the first-half and nearly took the lead inside 5 minutes, Kyle Tooze sent a sensational swinging effort from range towards goal and with the home keeper routed, the ball cannoned off the woodwork.

A few minutes later, a scramble from a low Mason Winter corner had Mills and Bryant swing blocked efforts before it was hacked away.

Bament had been restored to the starting eleven this week and the forward stole ahead of his man following a Howe flick on but his effort was tipped wide by Connor Johns.

Bament then turned provider, his whipped cross just evaded the onrushing Bryant at the back post.

Another flowing move had Tooze Howe and Bament all involved, the latter only able to curl high and wide.

Farm’s last chance of a lively first-half fell to Theo Llewelyn fired over with perhaps better options at the back post awaiting a cross.

Farm started in the same vein second-half and got a deserved lead just minutes in.
Bament with a perfect cross and Owen Howe guided his low header past Johns.

Farm probed further and almost got a second, Tooze drove forward but could only snatch over.

The hosts’ first chance to equalise was a very presentable one, Felipe Barcelos controlled inside the box but hammered miles over.

The forward then missed another big chance on the hour, cutting inside the area but again lashing high and wide.

Farm were a threat on the counter despite the hosts growing into the game. Tooze collecting a clever backheel from Bament but his shot deflected into the arms of Johns.

Farm would double their lead after the hour, Winter recycling from his own corner before his perfect volleyed cross landed on the head of Mike Bryant, who headed home from close range.

The home side couldn’t find their shooting boots at all, Oliver Case the next to blaze miles over.

Farm were doing everything to preserve a much needed clean sheet. Steve Kingdon with a wonderful last ditch tackle and Ben John scrambled the ball wide and safe.

Howe then had a few chances to get his second and add some gloss, first lashing over from a clever Tooze pass and then Johns rushed out to clear and Howe shot just wide from the half way line.

Highworth would make it a nervy end, Sean Wood wayward shot taking a massive deflection before nestling for 2-1. Farm would hold on for another massive away result, even having time for Howe to lash one over on the counter.

On Hallows’ eve, Bristol Manor Farm travel to Highworth Town on Saturday afternoon looking to bounce back from their 2-0 home defeat against Bideford Town. Here is all the information you need ahead of the Farmers 13th league fixture.

Report, Youth

MATCH REPORT: Winscombe U18 0-5 Bristol Manor Farm U18

The Young Farmers secured another three points on the road on Tuesday evening, as they cruised past Winscombe U18 to make it four league wins in a row, writes Warwick Carlisle.

Following their victory against Weston-super-Mare U18 last week, the Young Farmers made the trip to the Recreation Ground determined to keep up the momentum.

The Young Farmers were rewarded for their efforts in the 5th minute, when Cummings played a stunning one-two with Andrews to flummox the Winscombe centre backs and having beat the offside trap, hammered the ball past the Winscombe goalkeeper to give his side an early lead. 1-0 Manor Farm.

Winscombe responded strongly, though, pushing their full backs high, in attempt to create overloads in the attacking third. Fortunately, Stenner, Widger, and Williams, showed discipline and diligence in their play to thwart the Winscombe front line. Pollinger, who has been in sensational form lately, was also key during this period.

In the 19th minute, the Winscombe forward did well to control the long ball and produced a great piece of individual skill to outmanoeuvre Widger. With only Allen to beat, the Winscombe faithful made themselves heard, confident their forward was going to level the game, but Allen had other ideas, as he made an absolutely magnificent save at close range to deny the hosts their first goal of the evening.

From the resulting corner, Allen collected safely and then found McCarthy out-wide, who beat the Winscombe full back for pace, before squaring to Andrews. Andrews’ shot was well blocked, but as ever, his work rate and determination was unrivalled, and so it came as no surprise when he refused to give up on the loose ball, robbing it from the Winscombe midfielder and driving it goal-wards, forcing a fine stop from the Winscombe goalkeeper.

For the next 20 minutes, dynamite Number 10, Thomas, was unstoppable and produced a scintillating display of skill which left the Winscombe midfield watching poetry in motion.

In the 28th minute, showing his pedigree, Thomas played a one-two with two different team mates, before gliding past the deepest Winscombe midfielder and opting to play in Cummings, who forced another great stop from the host’s goalkeeper.

In the 35th minute, the ever-reliable Pollinger excellently intercepted the Winscombe winger’s intended pass and found Thomas, who purposely drew the Winscombe central midfielder out-wide to create space for Turner, who fired a rocket at goal, which rattled the woodwork.

The Young Farmers continued to knock on the door and in the 38th minute, Turner, who had showed superb poise and composure in the first half, saw Butler’s run along the channel and timed the pass to him brilliantly. From here, Butler found Cummings, who evaded his marker and drilled the ball home to extend his team’s lead. 2-0.

The Young Farmers made a promising start to the second half too and in the 47th minute, Turner turned the screw, when he found the gap between the Winscombe centre back and full back to play in Cummings, who was shoved in the box. Penalty Manor Farm. Thomas stepped up and made no mistake, smashing the ball past the host’s goalkeeper. 3-0.

As the game moved past the hour mark, Andrews started to exploit more space to devastating effect and in the 68th minute, unselfishly squared to Thomas on the edge of the box, who guided the ball home to score his second of the game. 4-0.

In the 74th minute, White cleverly anticipated the Winscombe midfielder’s intended target, winning back possession to begin a great move with the influential Selwood, who sent the Winscombe centre back the wrong way, before absolutely drilling the ball into the top corner. It was a slam dunk. A gorilla dunk.

Another brilliant performance from the Young Farmers, who continue to build momentum.

Injury Update: Jamie Turner

After signing a contract extension in June, one player who’s had to bide his time on the sidelines is long-standing defender, Jamie Turner. A meniscus tear in the right knee, followed by meniscectomy surgery, has forced Turner to support his teammates away from The Creek; that being said, light is certainly at the end of the tunnel for Turner who will begin training with a ball for the first time this season. In our latest interview, we caught up with Jamie to see how he’s getting on with his recovery.

“My rehab is going well,” Turner began. “I’ve been doing two sessions a week with Cameron Tarr from CT Performance UK, and we both feel that my strength and conditioning are improving week by week. There’s still plenty of work to do yet, and sessions with the ball are due to start this week, so it will be good to get the boots back on,” Turner expressed.

In addition to the Farm’s promising start to the 2021/22 season, the return of Turner will be welcomed with open arms by Manager Lashenko and the club who have shown their commitment by funding the former Portwaymen U18 player’s sessions.

“Laz and the club have been extremely helpful with full support in paying for all of my sessions,” said Turner. “I’m extremely grateful, and I’m also thankful to my teammates who have wished me well throughout.

Whether Turner’s out enjoying long walks or practising his Golf, the defender is fully aware of the strong start that the club has made this season.

“It looks like Laz and the team have picked up some very strong and positive results.

“It’s been a good start to the league season, and the results should give them plenty of confidence going into the winter part of the season,” Turner said.

Turner resumes training with ball this week, and Bristol Manor Farm would like to wish our joint longest player the best of luck with the remainder of his recovery.
