Day completes transfer to AFC Totton

Bristol Manor Farm Football Club can confirm today that Marcus Day has completed a transfer to promotion-chasing AFC Totton.

Day initially joined the Portwaymen in 2020 following his departure from the Bristol City Academy, and made an instant impact at The BS3 Services Stadium with his fantastic attitude and strong attacking capabilities. That season, Day played a big part in the club’s historic FA Cup progression, scoring in normal time against Isthmian Premier side Cray Wanderers – to which we exited the tournament following a penalty shootout at The Creek.

At the start of the 2021/22 season, Day transferred to Welsh Premier Division outfit Barry Town United before returning to Bristol Manor Farm for the 2022/23 pre-season campaign. This season Day has performed admirably in a red shirt by assisting and scoring matches that will long live in the memory of everyone connected to the club.

Speaking on the departing forward, Manager Lee Lashenko commented: “Marcus is a player that myself and the football club hold in the highest regard.

“Ever since he joined the club he has been a real standout player for us, and we’re extremely proud of the part that we played in his progression,” Lashenko said.

The Stags currently sit in second position with games in hand on their fellow South Coast rivals, Sholing FC. As part of the move, Day will be moving to Southampton full-time, and AFC Totton have arranged a part-time role for him to work alongside being at the football club.

“Whilst we are sad to see Marcus leave us, it’s been fantastic to see him grow and develop both as a person and player – and we give him and AFC Totton our best wishes with the transfer,” Lashenko expressed.

“It’s clear to see that AFC Totton is a conference side waiting to happen, and this move will only help push Marcus ever closer to achieving his dream of living as a full-time professional footballer.”

Everyone connected to Bristol Manor Farm would like to wish Marcus the very best, and we look forward to monitoring his career progression.

MATCH PREVIEW: AFC Totton vs BMF

Manor Farm take a trip to high flying Totton, looking to build on a very successful week so far. Farm were sitting rock bottom before the weekend but two wins, including a famous away win at Tavistock on Wednesday, has seen them climb to safety and given the club a renewed sense of optimism. Totton missed out on a play off spot thanks to Farm last season and are no mood to pass up a chance this season.

The Hampshire club, managed by the son of World Cup winner, Alan Ball, haven’t lost domestically since August, a run of 15 unbeaten league matches. Two late goals were enough to give Totton the win in the reverse fixture but Farm have fond memories on this ground. Not least back in the spring where Owen Howe scored the winner on his return to Farm, and the striker has scored three stunning goals in his last two games.
