Bristol Manor Farm will make the short trip to Larkhall on Saturday afternoon as they look for a much-needed three points to kickstart their new year. Jack Davies is back to preview all the action that will take place at Plain Ham.
Factfile:
Nickname – The Larks
Stadium – Plain Ham (27 miles)
Founded – 1914
Manager – Ollie Price
Star man – Kye Simpson
Last season – 11th
Last match – 2-2 draw to Frome
Fun fact – They’ve reached the 5th round of the FA Vase 3 times
The Larks:
Larkhall took a while to get going this season but are starting to find form in the division. Former Farm man Kye Simpson has been a good addition, mainly fueled by attacking skipper Brad Norris. Former Farm men also include Dawid Regula and tough-tackling defender Sam Boulton.
The Farm:
It’s been a difficult start to life in the 2022/23 Southern League season for Lee Lashenko’s Bristol Manor Farm, but it’s been shown that they have the ability to beat any side on their day. The young forward Evander Grubb and fullback Mason Winter both seem to have recovered from their injuries, which could lead to Lashenko naming the two Farmers back in the matchday squad.
The Form:
With Exmouth in the win column, Farm was looking to push on over the Christmas break, but their last two matches ended in defeat against Paulton and Slimbridge. The Farmers started brightly against the latter, but officiating controversies took over, including a harsh dismissal for Frankie Artus in the second half. Larkhall battled back superbly to earn a draw at Frome last week and have 2 wins in the 4 games previously.

Last month featured the ‘Christmas Bonus’ which added a further four prizes to be won.
Bristol Manor Farm kick off the new year with a match against Slimbridge AFC at The BS3 Services Stadium, and Jack Davies is back to preview all of Monday’s action.
Factfile:
Nickname – The Swans
Stadium – Thornhill Park (25 miles)
Founded – 1902
Manager – Tom Speers
Star man – Ethan Dunbar
Last season – 14th
Last match – 3-1 defeat to Bishops Cleeve
Fun fact – The Stadium is named in honour of former player Evi Thornhill who bought and left the land to the club.
The Swans:
Slimbridge will be looking for a new year catalyst and will have been buoyed by the recent efforts of striker Ethan Dunbar. Despite their poor form recently, Slimbridge have tightened up at the back mainly thanks to skipper Myron Turner.
The Farm:
Lee Lashenko’s Farm are back in the goals and will be looking for more here. Captain Jake Gosling is in fine goalscoring form, as is striker Owen Howe – who almost doubled the Farm’s lead at Paulton when he struck the post from the edge of the area. Theo Llewellyn and George Fowler have been key returns to the matchday squad, whilst Harry Lucas’ three consecutive starts ended with a ‘Man of the Match’ performance.
The Form:
This game has the feel of a real ‘six pointer’ as both sides have struggled to capitalise on last season’s growth. Farm have just one win in six, coming against Westbury United on November 5, whilst the Swans have lost their last five. A win could take the Portwaymen up three places, whilst a defeat could see their opponents cruelly leapfrog them in the table.
From myself and Chair Gill Callaghan, we would like to extend a big thank you to the Farmy Army for their continued support to the club over the past year. It has certainly been an eventful one – that’s for sure!
As First-Team Manager, it was an honour to share some amazing on-field moments with you and my saff last year, including reaching the division’s play-off final in Winchester. The match proved to be a step too far for our squad, but nontheless I am still incredibly proud of what we acheived from our 3-0 Boxing Day win over rivals Mangotsfield United onwards.
Despite all this, we regretfully lost the most important man that’s ever been known to this football club, Geoff Sellek, and his passing continues to leave a huge void in our hearts. While we’ve had an indifferent start to this Southern League season, we’re incredibly proud to work for Geoff’s amazing club and determined to recreate the siege mentality from last year to maintain his legacy.
The Farmy Army has been nothing short of amazing, and we are eager to kick on from our three points against Exmouth last time for Monday’s match at the First4Pools Stadium against Paulton.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas spent with their loved ones, and I look forward to seeing The Farmy Army contingent in Paulton on Boxing Day.
Up the Farm!
Lee Lashenko
