Frome maintained their near perfect start to the season as they piled more home blues on Manor Farm.
The visitors were unbeaten so far this season but conceded the games first chance, Owen Howe combining well with Kyle Tooze before the latter dragged just wide.
Frome did take the lead after weathering that early storm, and it was an ex-Farm player back to haunt. Rex Mannings was played through after just two passes sliced open a static Farm defence and the striker tucked the rebound away after his initial shot was well saved.
Farm almost levelled instantly. Winter’s clever low corner fell to Howe but the striked uncharacteristically sliced wide.
The home side were also denied what looked two very good penalty shouts before the break. First Ben Bament was hauled from behind, then Kyle Tooze was shoved over at the near post following a corner.
Frome striker Kane Simpson then had a moment to forget late in the half. He found himself through on goal but his cheeky chipped effort went terribly wrong as the ball looped both high and wide.
Farm had the majority of possession in the second half as they tried to get level. Owen Howe had the first chance to restore parity but could only see his effort deflect just wide.
Frome always carried a threat on the counter, and went inches from doubling the lead after an hour played. Jonathan Davies allowed ample time and space to run inside, but his low effort smashed off the inside of the post and away from danger.
The visitors would double their lead and end the contest shortly after. Davies turned provider as his searching cross was headed into his own net but the unfortunate Mason Winter.
Frome would add gloss to the scoreline late on. Ben John sliced a bouncing ball, and Frome substitute James Ollis had the simple task of rolling the ball into the empty net.

Manor Farm picked up a vital away win at the hands of high flying Highworth Town, writes Jack Davies
Manor Farm were on the front foot for all of the first-half and nearly took the lead inside 5 minutes, Kyle Tooze sent a sensational swinging effort from range towards goal and with the home keeper routed, the ball cannoned off the woodwork.
A few minutes later, a scramble from a low Mason Winter corner had Mills and Bryant swing blocked efforts before it was hacked away.
Bament had been restored to the starting eleven this week and the forward stole ahead of his man following a Howe flick on but his effort was tipped wide by Connor Johns.
Bament then turned provider, his whipped cross just evaded the onrushing Bryant at the back post.
Another flowing move had Tooze Howe and Bament all involved, the latter only able to curl high and wide.
Farm’s last chance of a lively first-half fell to Theo Llewelyn fired over with perhaps better options at the back post awaiting a cross.
Farm started in the same vein second-half and got a deserved lead just minutes in.
Bament with a perfect cross and Owen Howe guided his low header past Johns.
Farm probed further and almost got a second, Tooze drove forward but could only snatch over.
The hosts’ first chance to equalise was a very presentable one, Felipe Barcelos controlled inside the box but hammered miles over.
The forward then missed another big chance on the hour, cutting inside the area but again lashing high and wide.
Farm were a threat on the counter despite the hosts growing into the game. Tooze collecting a clever backheel from Bament but his shot deflected into the arms of Johns.
Farm would double their lead after the hour, Winter recycling from his own corner before his perfect volleyed cross landed on the head of Mike Bryant, who headed home from close range.
The home side couldn’t find their shooting boots at all, Oliver Case the next to blaze miles over.
Farm were doing everything to preserve a much needed clean sheet. Steve Kingdon with a wonderful last ditch tackle and Ben John scrambled the ball wide and safe.
Howe then had a few chances to get his second and add some gloss, first lashing over from a clever Tooze pass and then Johns rushed out to clear and Howe shot just wide from the half way line.
Highworth would make it a nervy end, Sean Wood wayward shot taking a massive deflection before nestling for 2-1. Farm would hold on for another massive away result, even having time for Howe to lash one over on the counter.

After signing a contract extension in June, one player who’s had to bide his time on the sidelines is long-standing defender, Jamie Turner. A meniscus tear in the right knee, followed by meniscectomy surgery, has forced Turner to support his teammates away from The Creek; that being said, light is certainly at the end of the tunnel for Turner who will begin training with a ball for the first time this season. In our latest interview, we caught up with Jamie to see how he’s getting on with his recovery.
“My rehab is going well,” Turner began. “I’ve been doing two sessions a week with Cameron Tarr from CT Performance UK, and we both feel that my strength and conditioning are improving week by week. There’s still plenty of work to do yet, and sessions with the ball are due to start this week, so it will be good to get the boots back on,” Turner expressed.
In addition to the Farm’s promising start to the 2021/22 season, the return of Turner will be welcomed with open arms by Manager Lashenko and the club who have shown their commitment by funding the former Portwaymen U18 player’s sessions.
“Laz and the club have been extremely helpful with full support in paying for all of my sessions,” said Turner. “I’m extremely grateful, and I’m also thankful to my teammates who have wished me well throughout.
Whether Turner’s out enjoying long walks or practising his Golf, the defender is fully aware of the strong start that the club has made this season.
“It looks like Laz and the team have picked up some very strong and positive results.
“It’s been a good start to the league season, and the results should give them plenty of confidence going into the winter part of the season,” Turner said.
Turner resumes training with ball this week, and Bristol Manor Farm would like to wish our joint longest player the best of luck with the remainder of his recovery.

The Portwaymen started on the front foot with centre back Josh Ford having the game’s first two chances. First he met Lewis Leigh-Gilchrist’s swinging free kick with a header that flashed across goal and then he flicked a header across goal which hit the unfortunate Mike Bryant before it was hacked away.
Bideford would take the lead with their first real attack. Matt Buchan allowed ample time to cross and the unmarked Rubin Wilson had the simplest of tasks to head home from close range. Farm would have a few half chances before the break, Jayden Nielson had a shot well blocked before Mason Winter crossed for Mike Bryant, who headed just wide.
Despite Farm’s strong start to the second half they always looked susceptible to the visitors counter. Jack Calver breached the Farm backline before his fierce drive was well saved by Ben John.
The hosts’ first chance post break came following the move of the match so far, Nielson and Bryant combining well before the former dragged his shot wide. Owen Howe was next to try to grab what was looking a likely equaliser, he swivelled on the half-volley following some penalty box pinball but Adam Seedhouse-Evans was equal to it.
The keeper was at it again a few minutes later, Leigh-Gilchrist with a superb deep corner and Steve Kingdon rose highest to win his header before seeing it well saved. Despite waves of pressure, Farm were punished on the break.
The home side wasted a promising attack of their own before Carver led the charge and timed his pass superbly to Buchan, who finished calmly and effectively ended the contest.
Howe was leading a one man charge to attempt to get Farm a foothold late on, he connected with two good headers, the first was held by Seedhouse-Evans before the second clipped the top of the crossbar. The striker also looked to have more than a decent claim for a penalty waved away, finding his feet slid out from under him as he shaped to shoot in the box. Howe would have another header drift just wide before Seedhouse-Evans had the final say, saving smartly from Bryant’s low drive in injury time.
