Bristol Manor Farm AFC officially announced the re-signing of Welsh forward Jamie Bird on Monday evening, marking a triumphant return for the talented striker to the Farm’s ranks. The news comes after the club successfully secured international clearance for Bird, who is poised to make his comeback after a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to injury.
Having joined the club from Hereford FC in 2018, Jamie temporarily switched to Barry Town United in 2020/2021, when the Southern League was curtailed by the Coronavirus pandemic. Since his first spell with the club, he featured for Westfields F.C in the Hellenic Premier Division.
In our latest interview, Manager Lee Lashenko expressed his enthusiasm about working with the Welsh forward again who will add ‘extra firepower’ to the Farm’s plethora of attacking options.
“I’m thrilled to have Jamie back with us,” opened Lashenko. “He’s a great lad who already knows quite a few of the players and will work well with the new ones too. We hope to see him feature at Melksham on 16th as he is an outstanding talent who will only add more quality to our forward line.”
The re-signing of Bird represents a significant milestone for Bristol Manor Farm, as the Welsh forward had verbally agreed to terms during the summer. However, his return was delayed due to recovery from knee surgery, a period during which he has been diligently working on regaining full fitness.
“I have to say he’s looked really sharp in the few training sessions he’s had with us,” Lashenko expressed. “Birdy has had quite a bit of time away from first-team football, and now he has the chance to make his mark with us again.
“The fans who have been watching us over the years will remember how good he was, and I expect the new wave of the Farmy Army to give their full support when he pulls the shirt on again.”
Welcome back to the Farm, Jamie, as it’s great to have you officially signed on for the season!
