match Report: Bristol manor farm 2-0 Westbury united

It was a princely victory for The Farm on Saturday afternoon as Louis and Harry round off a right royal win in the FA Trophy, writes Jack Davies.

Farm, albeit with a week’s break, came into this match off the back of two straight wins, whilst visiting Westbury were also in high spirits, following a superb victory in the FA Cup against higher league opposition, AFC Totton, last weekend. An even start eventually yielded an early chance for Farm, but Josh Bissett’s low effort was well held by visiting keeper Jonny Hill.

The deadlock was broken on the half-hour mark as Farm took the lead. A ball in from the right hung in the air, and whilst Hill and his Westbury defence were caught on their heels, Louis Britton nipped in to head into the empty net, claiming his fourth goal in four games. Farm were then left bemused as to why they weren’t heading into the break with a two-goal lead. An initial refereeing advantage saw Tate race away to score, only to be denied by the whistle, which called play back for a Farm free kick. Confusion all round, but Farm had to settle for a single-goal lead at the interval.

Westbury huffed and puffed as they sought a route back in after a cagey opening to the second half, before Farm all but sealed the tie on the hour. Bissett, who had made a flying start to his Farm career, sent in a trademark accurate delivery, and defender Harry Lucas headed home for his first goal of the season.

Bissett continued to torment the Westbury defence as the game wore on. Shortly after sending a driven effort just over, he broke over half the pitch with the ball at his feet, only for Hill to get a vital touch to deny him as he attempted to round the keeper in the area. Another pinpoint delivery almost gave Farm some icing on the cake in the game’s final minutes. His corner was met by Aron Robbins, whose bullet header rattled the crossbar and bounced away to safety.
