Bristol Manor Farm capped off a flawless bank holiday weekend by defeating local rivals Cribbs 2-0 on Monday afternoon, writes Jack Davies.
Fresh off a fantastic four against Bideford on Saturday, Farm went into this local derby full of confidence. Josh Bissett had the game’s first chance after a lively opening 10 minutes. George Dowling lofted a lovely ball over the top, and Bissett’s half-volley was saved by the home keeper, Kyreese Johnson. Those two continued to carry the early threat. Dowling found Bissett out wide this time, and he crossed for Britton, whose header went just wide. Chances were at a premium for the rest of the half, but Farm took the lead into the break, with Bissett showing excellent persistence to ride a few blocks and challenges before rifling home via a deflection.
Farm continued to look lively as the second half began, and Dowling needed just five minutes to create another chance. His whipped free kick found Britton unmarked, but Britton failed to make a full connection as the ball flicked off his shoulder and over. Cribbs huffed and puffed in the second half but were unable to muster a single meaningful effort on target. A header over the bar from substitute Zak Mitchell was as good as it got after he freed himself from a home corner. It was a corner of Farm’s own that ensured there was no need for a nervy finish. Bissett’s devilish delivery curled towards goal, and whether already over the line or not, former Cribbs man George Kellow bundled the ball into the back of the net for two goals and three points.
A huge thank you to the magnificent Farmy Army for their support on Saturday against Bideford and to the 150+ supporters who turned out in their numbers on Monday at Cribbs. We also wish our former Matchday Host, Kevin O’Donohoe, all the best as he departs the club after 12 years of dedicated service. The next game for Farm is on Saturday, 7th September at home to Westbury United in the Isuzu FA Trophy First Round Qualifying. Full match details and information to follow…
