MATCH REPORT: Bristol Manor Farm 0-3 Frome Town

Frome maintained their near perfect start to the season as they piled more home blues on Manor Farm.

The visitors were unbeaten so far this season but conceded the games first chance, Owen Howe combining well with Kyle Tooze before the latter dragged just wide.

Frome did take the lead after weathering that early storm, and it was an ex-Farm player back to haunt. Rex Mannings was played through after just two passes sliced open a static Farm defence and the striker tucked the rebound away after his initial shot was well saved.

Farm almost levelled instantly. Winter’s clever low corner fell to Howe but the striked uncharacteristically sliced wide.

The home side were also denied what looked two very good penalty shouts before the break. First Ben Bament was hauled from behind, then Kyle Tooze was shoved over at the near post following a corner.

Frome striker Kane Simpson then had a moment to forget late in the half. He found himself through on goal but his cheeky chipped effort went terribly wrong as the ball looped both high and wide.

Farm had the majority of possession in the second half as they tried to get level. Owen Howe had the first chance to restore parity but could only see his effort deflect just wide.

Frome always carried a threat on the counter, and went inches from doubling the lead after an hour played. Jonathan Davies allowed ample time and space to run inside, but his low effort smashed off the inside of the post and away from danger.

The visitors would double their lead and end the contest shortly after. Davies turned provider as his searching cross was headed into his own net but the unfortunate Mason Winter.

Frome would add gloss to the scoreline late on. Ben John sliced a bouncing ball, and Frome substitute James Ollis had the simple task of rolling the ball into the empty net.

Attention quickly turns to the quarter final of the GFA cup when Mangotsfield United travel to The Creek on Tuesday night (9/11/21). Head over to our YouTube channel – Official BMF TV – for Manager Lashenko’s reaction from today’s defeat.

MATCH REPORT: Highworth Town 1-2 Bristol Manor Farm

Manor Farm picked up a vital away win at the hands of high flying Highworth Town, writes Jack Davies

Manor Farm were on the front foot for all of the first-half and nearly took the lead inside 5 minutes, Kyle Tooze sent a sensational swinging effort from range towards goal and with the home keeper routed, the ball cannoned off the woodwork.

A few minutes later, a scramble from a low Mason Winter corner had Mills and Bryant swing blocked efforts before it was hacked away.

Bament had been restored to the starting eleven this week and the forward stole ahead of his man following a Howe flick on but his effort was tipped wide by Connor Johns.

Bament then turned provider, his whipped cross just evaded the onrushing Bryant at the back post.

Another flowing move had Tooze Howe and Bament all involved, the latter only able to curl high and wide.

Farm’s last chance of a lively first-half fell to Theo Llewelyn fired over with perhaps better options at the back post awaiting a cross.

Farm started in the same vein second-half and got a deserved lead just minutes in.
Bament with a perfect cross and Owen Howe guided his low header past Johns.

Farm probed further and almost got a second, Tooze drove forward but could only snatch over.

The hosts’ first chance to equalise was a very presentable one, Felipe Barcelos controlled inside the box but hammered miles over.

The forward then missed another big chance on the hour, cutting inside the area but again lashing high and wide.

Farm were a threat on the counter despite the hosts growing into the game. Tooze collecting a clever backheel from Bament but his shot deflected into the arms of Johns.

Farm would double their lead after the hour, Winter recycling from his own corner before his perfect volleyed cross landed on the head of Mike Bryant, who headed home from close range.

The home side couldn’t find their shooting boots at all, Oliver Case the next to blaze miles over.

Farm were doing everything to preserve a much needed clean sheet. Steve Kingdon with a wonderful last ditch tackle and Ben John scrambled the ball wide and safe.

Howe then had a few chances to get his second and add some gloss, first lashing over from a clever Tooze pass and then Johns rushed out to clear and Howe shot just wide from the half way line.

Highworth would make it a nervy end, Sean Wood wayward shot taking a massive deflection before nestling for 2-1. Farm would hold on for another massive away result, even having time for Howe to lash one over on the counter.

MATCH REPORT: Bristol Manor Farm 0-2 Bideford AFC

Bristol Manor Farm were unable to capitalise on last week’s big win as they were defeated 2-0 at home to Bideford AFC, writes Jack Davies.

The Portwaymen started on the front foot with centre back Josh Ford having the game’s first two chances. First he met Lewis Leigh-Gilchrist’s swinging free kick with a header that flashed across goal and then he flicked a header across goal which hit the unfortunate Mike Bryant before it was hacked away.
Bideford would take the lead with their first real attack. Matt Buchan allowed ample time to cross and the unmarked Rubin Wilson had the simplest of tasks to head home from close range. Farm would have a few half chances before the break, Jayden Nielson had a shot well blocked before Mason Winter crossed for Mike Bryant, who headed just wide.
Despite Farm’s strong start to the second half they always looked susceptible to the visitors counter. Jack Calver breached the Farm backline before his fierce drive was well saved by Ben John.
The hosts’ first chance post break came following the move of the match so far, Nielson and Bryant combining well before the former dragged his shot wide. Owen Howe was next to try to grab what was looking a likely equaliser, he swivelled on the half-volley following some penalty box pinball but Adam Seedhouse-Evans was equal to it.
The keeper was at it again a few minutes later, Leigh-Gilchrist with a superb deep corner and Steve Kingdon rose highest to win his header before seeing it well saved. Despite waves of pressure, Farm were punished on the break.
The home side wasted a promising attack of their own before Carver led the charge and timed his pass superbly to Buchan, who finished calmly and effectively ended the contest.
Howe was leading a one man charge to attempt to get Farm a foothold late on, he connected with two good headers, the first was held by Seedhouse-Evans before the second clipped the top of the crossbar. The striker also looked to have more than a decent claim for a penalty waved away, finding his feet slid out from under him as he shaped to shoot in the box. Howe would have another header drift just wide before Seedhouse-Evans had the final say, saving smartly from Bryant’s low drive in injury time.

MATCH REPORT: Paulton Rovers 1-3 Bristol Manor Farm

Bristol Manor Farm AFC let their football do the talking as a superb second-half performance secured the all important three points in the final game of the Paulton trilogy, writes Matchday Reporter Jack Davies.

The Portwayment had been dumped out of two cup competitions by their hosts in the last couple of weeks and started brightly in their hunt for revenge. Stuart Tovey’s whipped cross was hacked at by defender Dan Dempsey, before the ball fell kindly to Owen Howe who volleyed just over.

Just moments later Howe had the next chance, lashing a driven free-kick high and wide.

Despite the confident start, Paulton would sting on the break. Ed Butcher led a counter before his pass found Leighton Thomas and the striker finished smartly.

Farm escaped a second blow a few minutes later. Tovey cleared superbly off the line after a Thomas header had beaten Ben John.

It would take a penalty for Farm to get a much deserved equaliser. Kyle Tooze made a nuisance of himself, dealing with a difficult bouncing ball far better than his counterpart Leighton Tuodolo, as the defender clumsily hauled Tooze down just inside the box. Howe collected the ball and emphatically buried his 12th league goal of the season.

Paulton had two chances just before the break to reestablish the lead. Butcher crossed for Thomas who headed over from point blank range before Butcher again crossed for Will Harvey but he could only find the side netting.

Farm started an incredibly impressive second-half on the front foot. Lewis Leigh-Gilchrist spinning left and right before his cute chip was just too heavy for Howe at the back post.

The hosts’ first chance of the second-half was an extremely presentable one. Liban Ibrahim got in down the left but Thomas could only hammer over from the penalty spot.

Tooze was once again causing problems for Farm down their right. Skipping inside and out before his superb cross left keeper Aaron Sainsbury in no man’s land, but there were no takers at a vacant back post.

Paulton looked certainties to take the lead as Butcher escaped Tovey on the break, but Theo Llewelyn came from nowhere to make a superb recovery tackle.

On the hour, a managerial masterstroke by Lee Lashenko turned the balance in Manor Farm’s favour. Within 60 seconds of coming on, substitute Lloyd Mills’ first touch was a peach of a pass to Howe which led to a Farm corner; The resulting corner was well worked, and Tooze fired a cross to Mills who swept home to give the Portwaymen the lead.

The game was effectively over as a contest just a few minutes later. Tooze again drove Farm forward and once Leigh-Gilchrist got a toe to a loose ball first, Tuodolo swiped wildly at the forward leading to a second penalty and a second yellow for the defender.

Howe smashed home again and led the team to the beaming Lashenko for wild celebrations and three big points secured.

Manor Farm were denied a touch more gloss late on. Leigh-Gilchrist’s perfect corner found Josh Ford, who had defended outstandingly throughout, but his downward header was brilliantly tipped wide by Sainsbury.

Saturday’s result made certain that Bristol Manor Farm remained in third place after 11 matches, four points off league leaders AFC Totton who have played a match less. MATCH REPORT: Bristol Manor Farm 4-2 Plymouth Parkway

Bristol Manor Farm overcame a two goal deficit on Tuesday night as they condemned high-flying Plymouth Parkway to a 4-2 defeat at The Creek. In just under 24 hours from Tuesday’s fixture, Matchday Reporter Jack Davies covers all the action that unfolded in what will be looked back on as a memorable night in the club’s history.

Despite a nine day lay-off, Manor Farm looked like a team that were thankful for the rest. The lively Kyle Tooze carried the ball 30 yards before cutting inside and seeing his low effort blocked.

Tooze was at it again a few minutes later, twisting inside of defender Ryan Lane and unleashing another effort that whistled just over.

Plymouth Parkway had made a very strong start to the campaign and began to get a foothold. First Steve Kingdon had to be alert to turn away a goalbound effort from Michael Williams before it would be the Farm man himself who would give his opponent the lead. Jack Crago’s low shot taking a touch off Kingdon before tricking over the line.

Farm weren’t deterred and almost leveled instantly. Tooze again making his own space and delivering a cross for Aron Robbins, the captains’ header was looping goalbound and but for the actions of Plymouth defender Callum Rose, it may have dipped inside the post.

The visitors then had Rose to thank again shortly after. Owen Howe’s flick-on looked to have set Tooze away but the defenders’ last ditch tackle was timed superbly.

Those defensive interventions would be rewarded too. River Allen’s free-kick was spilled by Ben John, and Williams was quickest to react to double the Plymouth lead.

Farm rallied once more and got a hugely deserved goal before the break. Lewis Leigh-Gilchrist with a perfect corner and Josh Ford was left all alone to power home his header.

Lashenko’s men then could have easily gone in level. Tooze’s whipped cross fell at the back post to Robbins, but he skewed his effort wide of the near post.

It had seemed the break had come at a bad time for Farm but that notion was put to bed just a few minutes in.

Leigh-Gilchrist’s first corner of the second-half saw a Tooze flick turned off the line by Ethan Mitchell, but his second set peice eventually fell to Ford and the centre back finished like a seasoned striker to get his and Farm’s second.

The turnaround was complete just moments later when Tooze turned a sixpence, and his perfectly weighted pass set Jamie Short away to open his Manor Farm account, sending the home supporters into delirium.

Plymouth were reeling, but couldn’t capitalise on the few chances to draw level around the hour mark.

Adam Carter saw two well-struck efforts saved by Ben John, before heading over a guilt-edged chance following a well worked set piece.

The visitors’ comeback attempts were made harder with 15 minutes left as they were reduced to ten men. Ryan Lane, who had been given a torrid time by Tooze all afternoon, lashed out following a coming together between the pair and he was rightly given his marching orders.

Farm were honouring manager Lee Lashenko’s late Father in the game and both Dad and Son would have shared a broad smile at the way the game was settled for good.

Kyle Tooze’s eventful night was topped off in champagne fashion, with the forward collecting from 30 yards and his rocket flew into the far corner to secure a much deserved three points on Tuesday night.

Next up, Bristol Manor Farm will welcome Lymington Town to the Creek next Saturday, with all eyes on AFC Totton who lead Manor Farm at the top of the division by five points. You can watch Manager Lashenko’s post-match reaction on our Official YouTube channel HERE.

MATCH REPORT: Willand Rovers 1-2 Bristol Manor Farm

Bristol Manor Farm secured their first away win of the season as they withstood heavy Willand pressure to take all three points at Silver Street, writes Jack Davies.

The Portwaymen were looking to bounce back from their 3-1 loss at the weekend, and it took just four minutes to lift the players spirits when Lewis Leigh-Gilchrist smashed home the match’s opener. Theo Llewellyn snatched the ball and released Kyle Tooze, leaving two players for dead in the process, and his perfect cutback was emphatically finished by Leigh-Gilchrist.

Jayden Nielsen was the next Farm player to try his luck, turning into space before his shot was saved by Willand keeper George Burton.

Manor Farm were turning the screw as the game ticked on, Leigh-Gilchrist turning provider this time as he flicked the ball though to Owen Howe, but a superb recovery tackle by Ryan Guppy left him unable to get a firm connection on his effort.

Leigh-Gilchrist was having a fine first-half, his next involvement was collecting a Howe knock back but this time he could only fire wide.

Farm would capitalise in their first-half excellence midway through it, the brilliant Tooze spun Alfie Toland twice before the defender hauled him down inside the box. Howe dutifully hammered the spot kick in for his ninth of the season.

Willand ought to have levelled just before the break, Stuart Broker went through on goal but he put his effort wide. The home side would also have the final effort of the first half, a rasping drive from Archie Reay was tipped over by Ben John.

The home side came out of the traps flying, and forward Reay forced John into a smart save before Josh Ford cleared two strikes from in front of the experienced keeper.

Lee Lashenko’s Manor Farm still posed a threat on the counter, first Ben Bament put an effort over after a low cross from Aron Robbins, and then Howe found himself through on goal but lacked his usual composure when he too fired over.

That miss would prove costly after 70 minutes, Robbins caught by the overlap and Louis Jagger Cane arrived at the back post to score with his first touch to get Willand back in the game.

An already fiery affair threatened to boil over shortly after, Neilson punished for a foul but despite the whistle being blown, Toland flew through the back of Kyle Tooze as the ball went loose. The defender was only shown yellow and two more players were booked for the handbags.

Farm fully had their backs against the wall late on, Steve Kingdon and Josh Ford heading and clearing dangerous crosses away time after time and John making several smart saves, the best of which from a cross-cum-shot by Jagger Cane which he parried both away from goal and away from onrushing strikers.

The six minutes of added time felt like an eternity, Kingdon again on hand to block from Bowker before Guppy headed a last-minute chance just over.
