Welcome Back Jamie Adams

Bristol Manor Farm Football Club is extremely delighted to announce the return of former captain, Jamie Adams, to kickstart the Portwaymen’s preparations ahead of the 2023/24 Southern League season.

Adams certainly needs no introduction to the Farmy Army following his first spell at the club which started at the beginning of December 2017. Originally joining from Larkhall Athletic, the midfielder made an instant impact at The Creek with his combative performances which earned many plaudits from the club and its supporters.

After a memorable run in the FA Cup in the 2020/21 season, including defeating local neighbours Yate Town along the way, Adam’s certainly caught the Bluebell’s eyes and transferred to Lodge Road – making 45 appearances for Yate during the 2021/22 season where they narrowly avoiding a play-off spot come the end of the season.

Spells at Frome and Merthyr Town would follow Adam’s time in South Gloucestershire, and Manager Lee Lashenko wasted no time in securing his former player’s services once again.

“When Jamie departed the football club he was a quality footballer, and following spells at teams in higher divisions, I can’t wait to see what he’ll bring to our squad next season,” Lashenko expressed.

“I’m not sure someone like Jamie can get any better, but if he’s improved from the last time he played for us, then we’ve got a serious player on our hands.

“He’s a born leader, and with the progression that this club has shown with its younger players, Jamie can help them mature even further next season.”

I’m sure you will all join us in welcoming Jamie back to The Creek next season, and we wish him the best on his return to the club!

THANK YOU FARMY ARMY

As the curtains close on yet another thrilling Southern League season, Bristol Manor Farm Football Club would like to extend a heartfelt appreciation to our devoted and enthusiastic supporters, loyal and committed sponsors, and of course our young and hard-working matchday players and staff. Their unwavering dedication has been instrumental in the club’s ability to maintain its Step 4 status, and Manager Lee Lashenko is especially grateful for their invaluable support.

From Chairwoman Gill Callaghan to the dedicated team of volunteers, the past year has been arguably the most challenging one for everyone at Bristol Manor Farm. The loss of former Club Secretary Steve Hillier during the global pandemic, and the solemn one-year anniversary of the passing of our beloved Geoffrey Sellek on the day of Saturday’s Inter-Step Play-Off Final, have made it an incredibly difficult time for the entire Manor Farm community.

The Farmy Army, however, have been a constant presence at both home and away games, providing a passionate and vocal backing for our team (plus a lot of Clarke’s pies and pasties from Karon & Jamie’s Pie Stand). From Tuesday nights down in Dorset, to Saturday afternoons in South Worcestershire, they have travelled in their numbers regardless of whether we win, draw or lose.

“From the bottom of our hearts, we thank the Farmy Army for everything they have done for us this season,” Lashenko said. “Their passion and commitment have made a real difference to our team, and we hope that they can continue their monumental support next season and beyond. We really couldn’t have done it without them.”

After the club’s promotion final loss in Winchester, Bristol Manor Farm endured a difficult start to the season and found themselves in the automatic relegation spots at Christmas. Manager Lee Lashenko recalls a particular moment which ‘rejuvenated the club’s identity’ that gave him and his team of staff and players the confidence to pull the club away from danger.

“I have to admit that when we experienced significant losses against Melksham and Slimbridge at home, it was difficult for me to look beyond the challenges that myself, the team, and the players were facing at the club,” Lashenko said.

“But there was one night which spurred new life into myself as the Manager of this proud football club, and really provided us with a solid foundation to build on for the latter half of the season.

“We were 4-0 down away to Hamworthy United on a cold, wet Tuesday night with what was a threadbare squad filled with six players under the age of 20,” Lashenko expressed.

“I was feeling down about myself as Manager at half time, but the way those young lads responded during the second period was unbelievable. We won the second half 2-1 with Luco Ponsillo and Will Gallagher getting the goals, and for me that changed the whole perspective for us.

“The experienced players needed that blend of youthfulness and energy, and come the end of the season I think we got the formula absolutely spot on with our upturn in league form,” Lashenko said.

At the end of the season, the playing staff’s collective efforts filled the football club with immense pride. However, Manager Lashenko acknowledges Jake Gosling’s exceptional commitment to the club over the past two years, and believes that Bristol Manor Farm is fortunate to have a player of his caliber on the team.

“Jake Gosling is not just an exceptional player, but an exceptional human being as well,” said Lashenko.

“He’s not moaned or groaned once since turning out for us, and the fact that he has turned down lucrative offers, as well as driving an hour and a half from his home each week, just shows how much he cares about playing for this team.

“Over the years, Bristol Manor Farm has been fortunate to attract exceptional players, and Jake Gosling playing for us is an absolute privilege. He’s a fantastic footballer and a brilliant person to have around the dressing room,” Lashenko said.

LASHENKO AHEAD OF THE FINAL DAY

Lee Lashenko will lead his Bristol Manor Farm team out onto the pitch for their last league match of the 2022/23 Southern League Division One South season in a little over 48 hours when they travel to Westbury United’s Meadow Lane. Despite the challenges they have faced this season, the team still has a chance to achieve their goal of retaining their proud status, making for a potential fairytale ending to their campaign.

Following the club’s triumphant Western Premier League season in 2016/17, which saw them earn promotion to the Southern League, Bristol Manor Farm has experienced a range of emotions over the past few seasons, from the highs of historic cup runs in both the FA Cup and FA Trophy, as well as reaching last year’s playoff final, to the heartbreak of losing their former Chairman, Geoffrey Sellek.

It’s been a season of mixed fortunes for the Farmers, with some impressive performances and results, but also some that have put the club in danger of a potential relegation play-off if the final day’s results aren’t in favour of long-serving Manager Lashenko’s side.

In our latest interview, Lee Lashenko, who has been with the club for a long time, shared his thoughts and emotions about the upcoming dramatic finale of his 10th season as the club’s manager.

“When I first sat down with Geoff it was all about reaching the Southern League, and now it’s all about making sure we do everything in our power to secure that,” Lashenko began.

“It’s been a rollercoaster of a season, with its fair share of ups and downs, but we’re not going to let that define us. We still have a chance to retain our league status, and that’s the only thing on our minds right now.

After Evesham United’s impressive win over Willand Rovers on Wednesday evening, the outcome of Bideford’s crucial match against Bishops Cleeve on Thursday night is eagerly anticipated. Lashenko is confident that the integrity of the league will play a significant role in determining which teams avoid the possibility of a relegation play-off by Saturday evening.

“Colly (Paul Collicutt) is a great manager who has been there and done it all for clubs across the divisions. Having seen first-hand the sides that he has produced in the past, as well as this season, I know they will have full respect for the division by going to Bideford looking to get all three points,” Lashenko expressed.

With Lymington also positioned in the bottom four of the division, Lashenko also believes that there couldn’t be two better clubs to honour their seasons in Cinderford Town and Slimbridge AFC.

“We know that the task on Saturday is enormous, but not impossible,” said Lashenko.

“Nonetheless, the level of class and respect that Cinderford or Slimbridge will exhibit in their final game of the season could have a significant impact on determining which four teams might face a relegation play-off.

“As we saw with our recent match against them, Cinderford are a club with many great people connected with the club and we know they will be looking to end the season on a positive note when Willand head there on Saturday.

“Tom Deakin, the new Swans Manager, is demonstrating his ability to produce positive outcomes with their resurgence, and the same applies to him.

“In my opinion, Saturday’s outcome will be a genuine representation of the entire season, and we understand that our only option is to focus on our own performance and strive to achieve a positive result at Westbury,” Lashenko said.

The Farmy Army’s support for the club and its players has been incredible, and we’re looking forward to seeing you all come out in full force for our last league game of the 2022/23 Southern League season.

As the saying goes, “It ain’t over till it’s over.”
