LASHENKO AHEAD OF PAULTON

Back in August, Manager Lee Lashenko expressed that ‘something special’ is right around the corner for Bristol Manor Farm Football Club, as the Farm entered the 2021/22 Southern League Division One South season. Fast forward five months and 25 matches, the Farm host Paulton Rovers at The Creek looking to make it six consecutive victories – and continue their stampede for a play-off position. In our latest interview, we spoke to Lashenko ahead of Saturday’s fixture.

“Each passing match is starting to feel more like a cup match,” Lashenko began. “There’s an extra edge to matches now, and things are starting to look great for us.

“If you look at our current form, we’ve only lost once in our previous 10 games, and credit to the players who started to build that form just before December,” Lashenko said.

Two individuals who have comfortably stepped into the Lashenko’s shoes as ‘stand-in managers’ is current player Stuart Tovey and Assistant Manager Grantley Dicks.

“Grantley and Stuart are looking after the players very well at the minute, and I’m asking them to give us all an extra push while I’m not on the touch line,” Lashenko said.

“They’re both fantastic individuals, and I’m grateful for everything they’re doing for our club,” said Lashenko.

It’s not just the Farm’s back room staff who should receive heaps of praise, but the Farmy Army themselves who have travelled up and down the country to support the team this season; and Manager Lashenko couldn’t thank the supporters enough for sticking with him as we approach the ‘business-end’ of the Southern League season.

“The most important to people to give you confidence is the supporters, and the support that the Farmy Army have given us is remarkable,” Lashenko expressed.

“Supporters can make or break a player, but I know that these fans are right behind me and my players, as I’ve found with my own experiences this season. We need them more than ever, and there is an opportunity here to make this season the most successful in our proud history,” said Lashenko.

“I know I won’t be at the match, but I hope as many of you can make it down to The Creek and show your support to Grantley, Stuart and the players once again,” Lashenko said.

UP NEXT: Melksham Town F.C. (A)

Bristol Manor Farm travel to play-off hopefuls Melksham Town this weekend, as the Portwaymen search for a victory which would turn their victories tally into double figures. Here is all the information ahead of the Farm’s next match.

For the first time this year, Manager Lee Lashenko’s Portwaymen will step out onto the pitch following a 19 day break from competitive action, after last weekend’s match fell victim to poor weather in the South-West. With 15 games left in the Southern League Division One South, Saturday’s match could well be a play-off ‘six-pointer’ against Richard Fey’s Melksham who sit just three points behind the Farmers with a game in hand. Manager Lashenko will will also hope for a better performance against Town after their 1-3 defeat at The Creek last September.

One familiar face from the Melksham side is former Farm winger Kyle Tooze, who only recently departed The Creek just before the New Year. It was a dream start to life at Town for Tooze, who opened his account by scoring in their 3-3 thriller away to Frome. Despite that battling performance in Somerset, it’s been a tough month for Town who have picked up just one point from a possible 12 in their last four matches.

Manager Lashenko ahead of Willand Rovers

Earlier this week, the Portwaymen were boosted by the news that Midfielder Theo Llewellyn rejected a move to Southern Premier South side Merthyr Town to continue our battle for the play-offs. Manager Lee Lashenko was full of praise for his midfield engine, and knows that Llewellyn is here for the fight.

“Theo came to the club with high pedigree. He’s completely bought into our vision here, and has been a standout player since he joined in the summer.

“The fact that he’s turned down an offer from a massive club in Merthyr Town shows that he wants to see out the season here. We’ve got 15 cup finals to go, and Theo will play a big part in all those matches,” Lashenko said.

The first of those 15 finals begins with a home tie against the Devon All-Whites, Willand Rovers, tomorrow afternoon and Manager Lashenko is full of confidence that his side can display another strong performance.

“We know what Willand will be about,” said Lashenko. “We’ve played against them many times in both the Western League and Southern League, and we know it will be another tough test. That being said, my players are brimming with confidence at the minute.

“They trained really well on Thursday night, and everyone knows what needs to be done to achieve a position in the play-offs in 15 games time,” Lashenko expressed.

Join us at The Creek tomorrow afternoon (08/01/22) for another thrilling match in the Southern League Division One South against Willand Rovers at 3pm. If you can’t make the match, follow the action across our social media channels throughout the afternoon.

TOOZE DEPARTS

Bristol Manor Farm AFC can confirm today that winger Kyle Tooze has departed The Creek by mutual consent.

Tooze joined the Farm after an impressive spell at fellow Southern League side Thatcham Town, when he ended the 2019/20 season as their player-of-the-season and top scorer with 15 goals respectively.

Since then, Tooze made a number of appearances for the Farm including scoring a hat-trick over Welton Rovers in December 2020 and a thumping volley against Melksham earlier on in the season.

Speaking to the club after Tooze’s departure, Manager Lee Lashenko commented: “We are sorry to see Kyle go. Melksham Town showed their interest, and after speaking with Kyle we decided that the two parties would go their separate ways.

“I have great respect for Kyle, and Bristol Manor Farm would like to thank him for all of his efforts since joining, and we wish him all the best with his new challenge at Melksham Town,” Lashenko said.
